If you are looking to become a lifeguard or swim instructor, Calgary JCC is the place for you! The JCC can run the entire certification course for individuals who are working towards their lifesaver goals. We run one bronze class on a seasonal basis and if enough interest if shown we can offer the national lifeguard or lifesaving swim instructor certification courses.
Bronze Star participants develop problem-solving and decision-making skills as individuals and in partners. They learn CPR and develop water smart confidence and the lifesaving skills necessary to be their own personal lifeguard.
Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education: judgement, knowledge, skills and fitness. Rescuers learn tows and carries, defense and release methods in preparation for challenging recues involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Completion also certifies swimmers with CPR-A.
This course is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Completion also certifies the swimmer with CPR-C. The course is a prerequisite for all advanced Lifesaving program.
This course is not currently offered but will be offered again in the Spring.
